Panchkula: C. Deputy Mayor election today, three councillors joined BJP

Panchkula | Elections for the Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Panchkula Municipal Corporation are to be held on November 4. A day before this, Jannayak Janata Party councilor Sushil Garg, independent candidate Omvati Poonia and Sunil Singla, who left BJP and joined Congress, joined BJP. All three councilors joined BJP on Sunday at Chief Minister Naib Saini’s residence in Chandigarh. Now the number of BJP councilors in Panchkula Corporation has become 11. There are a total of 20 councilors in the corporation. The mayor also has voting rights. Since the mayor is from BJP, now BJP has 12 votes out of 20. On the other hand, Congress had 9 councilors till a day before, which has now reduced to eight.
