Google Calendar Introduces Full-Screen Task Lists on Android for Enhanced Productivity

Google has rolled out a new feature for its Calendar app on Android, aimed at making task management more seamless and efficient. Building on the success of full-screen task lists introduced on the web last year, this update brings the same comprehensive task management experience to Android smartphones. Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting update and how it can enhance productivity.

Full-Screen Task Lists in Google Calendar

Google’s blog post details the introduction of full-screen task lists in the Calendar app for Android. This update allows users to better manage their tasks while on the go, offering a more streamlined interface for organizing schedules and tasks.

The feature appears as a checkmark icon on the Calendar home screen, positioned alongside the user profile and Today View icons. Users can access three tabs within the full-screen task lists:

My Tasks: View upcoming and completed tasks.

Travel: Organize travel-related tasks.

+New List: Create custom task lists effortlessly.

This design provides a consolidated view of all tasks, enabling users to track and manage them in one place. The ability to edit tasks, add details, and create sub-tasks directly within the app simplifies task organization and execution.

Integration with Google Workspace

The full-screen task lists feature is available to:

Google Workspace users,

Google Workspace Individual customers, and

•Users with personal Google accounts.

With tasks synced across devices, this functionality integrates seamlessly with other Google Workspace products like Gmail and Calendar, ensuring a cohesive productivity experience.

Google is rolling out the feature to both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, ensuring availability across its user base in the coming weeks.

Updates to Google Drive Android File Picker

Alongside the enhancements to Google Calendar, Google is also updating its Drive Android file picker. The improvements make accessing recently viewed Drive items quicker and more intuitive.

Key features of the updated Drive file picker include:

•Easy access to recently viewed Drive items.

•Quick navigation to shared items, My Drive, and other storage locations.

This update has already been rolled out to Rapid Release domains and will be available in Scheduled Release domains starting December 2.

Notably, the new feature in Google Calendar builds upon its recent integration with Gemini, Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) assistant. This integration is designed to further optimize task management by providing intelligent suggestions and insights to users.
