Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced its foray into wireless air fiber service, aiming to provide customers with internet speeds comparable to wired fiber connections. The company plans to utilize True 5G technology in these services. The announcement was made by RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani during the company’s Annual General Meeting.
Currently, Reliance Jio, a subsidiary of RIL, boasts 10 million optical fiber connections across India. However, there are still millions of premises where it is challenging to provide fiber service through traditional wired connections. This is where the air fiber service comes into play, addressing the difficulty of reaching these locations.
Through the air fiber service, RIL aims to connect 200 million homes, providing internet access to a vast number of households. The company plans to add 150,000 new customers daily, expanding its customer base significantly. Reliance Jio’s optical fiber infrastructure spans an impressive 1.5 million kilometers across the country, ensuring extensive coverage for its services.
